Hunter-Gatherers Were The Original Masters Of Presence And The Power Of Now

We’ve been so busy creating a society of what we want we have forgotten what we need. Therefore we have created a society based on high levels of emotional arousal both positive and negative. Needless to say based on what we now know about the power of the emotional brain over the cognitive brain this can only have the effect of impairing our cognitive intelligence and exhaust us. We have become a society of dissatisfied linear future-focussed aspirationals instead of present focussed and enjoying the natural joy to be obtained from achieving a present need. We have created a financial system that exploits this dissatisfaction. In these early decades of the 21st century, we are witnessing the last dying out of 6 million years of the longest and most persistent lifestyle of human beings. Namely that of the Hunter-Gatherer. Around this time also we are witnessing the fact that over half the human population now live in cities and urban areas. We seem to have the view that this is an advance and driven by the technology we have finally arisen from the suffering of survival. Or have we?

The rest of the time they could relax and focus on family, friends and hobbies.”
